I was reading some youtube comments when I read the above statement. I’m sure that whoever wrote it was looking for an argument, but how can I argue with the truth? Religion IS for the scared and lost. Everyone is scared. Everyone is lost. That’s why so many people are searching to put their faith and hope in something. Whether it be a god, human, or material possession everyone is searching for that one thing that will fill the emptiness in their lives. I know I was “scared and lost” before I found the peace and truth in Jesus. Even though I became a Christian at the tender age of 3, I know what it’s like to ignore the creator of the universe. I felt empty. And scared. And lost. I can also remember what is was like to fully focus on Him- to let God lead and guide. I can tell you that I haven’t felt that emptiness since then. Every time I get the since of loneliness, it goes away quickly because God promised He would always be with us. And (just like our last lesson at Voltage) we all know that God keeps His word. So yes, I agree with the statement that “religion is for the scared and lost” and I’ve never met anyone who did not feel like that (even if s/he refuses to admit it!). However, if you put your faith and hope in God, the creator, you’ll never feel that way again.

I saw The Almost last night (with a slew of other bands I’m not really into) as part of their Monster Monster tour. I just have to say that they were amazing. When I was watching those guys on stage, I could tell that they love performing and the presence of God was with them. They played a fair mix of songs from both the Southern Weather and Monster Monster albums.
I got into The Almost when they first formed a couple of years ago. I was a fan of Aaron Gillepse when he played drums and sung the “clean” vocals for Underoath. The Almost started out as a solo project and by the second album they had become a full band. When I heard that Joe Munsen (Advent, Beloved) was playing  touring drums for them I was beyond stoked the see them.
After the show, I talked to Joe Munsen a bit and he said he would be returning to The Channel in November or Demember with Advent. So get stoked for that!

• Showbread’s No Sir, Nihilism Isn’t Practical is my new favorite album. I honestly don’t know I went through life without hearing the greatness of it. Showbread is currently in the studio recording their fifth album titled Who Can Know It? that will be available free of cost on http://comeandlive.com/
• Old Navy. I’ve recently fallen in love with their clearance section. Who would have know that I could have found decent clothes there that actually match my tastes.
• V for Vendetta. I’ve seen this movie plenty of times when it was shown on television, but I’d never seen the unedited version until last week. I found a copy of the special edition DVD in a used record store last week and now I absolutely adore it!

I was saved at a very young age. I can’t tell you the exact day or even how old I was, but that doesn’t make it insignificant. It’s quite the contrary, It means that God has had His hand on me from the very beginning. You see, I was raised by two God-fearing people. My parents taught me about Jesus even before I was born. I remember being about three years old and inquiring about salvation. It was something I wanted so bad; in my innocence, Jesus was calling out to me. It wasn’t until a few years later did I approached my pastor for baptism. I was baptized when I was six years old at a tiny church on a hill overlooking a tiny lake.

Through my middle school years, I was what I’ve heard referred to as  a “weekend Christian.” I went to church at the usual time and participated in youth group but I only acknowledged God when it was convenient for me. When I was in eighth grade, God caught me completely off guard. I was hanging out with a friend after class one day and he asked me very bluntly, “Are you a Christian?” I was completely blindsided. I didn’t know what to say. This kid in particular knew that I went to church, but he also knew that I didn’t act like I loved Jesus. I understood then that God was telling me to make a decision. I thought about the question for a split second before I answered: “Yes, I do.” That one question completely changed my life. I’ve been living for God ever since.

I’m not going to say that it’s easy. I’m not going to say that I’ve never had any doubts. I will admit that once I completely surrendered myself to God I’ve been able to experience some incredible things. I’ve seen God work miracles and it amazes me that he includes me in on it.

Now, I am undying.
That’s my story and it’s not over yet.

The Wedding

I have a crazy obsession with slip-on shoes.

The more I thought about it the more I realized it was true.
I do not wear high heels because, let’s face, accident prone people just shouldn’t wear heals. I find dress up shoes too boring and those sandal things that are popular now are down right hideous. I do wear the occasional flip-flop or sneaker, but the majority of my foot wear are slip-ons. I own five pairs that are pictured above  (I even donated three pairs and threw one last week).
Why do I like them? The real question is what’s not to like.
They are super comfy.
They are easy to put on and take off.
They look good with shorts or pants.
They are usually decently priced.
They come in an assortment of styles and fun patterns!

I don’t see this fetish going away anytime soon so I’m just going to roll with the punches and hope that my employers (now and in the future) don’t mind my choice of foot wear.
