Let me hear you roarrr!

DSC_0779A few days ago, I was browsing around Rugged Wearhouse and I headed to my favorite department. Shoes. I know this is clique, but I love shoes. Anyway, I was shopping and I realized something.

I have a crazy obsession with slip-on shoes.

The more I thought about it the more I realized it was true.
I do not wear high heels because, let’s face, accident prone people just shouldn’t wear heals. I find dress up shoes too boring and those sandal things that are popular now are down right hideous. I do wear the occasional flip-flop or sneaker, but the majority of my foot wear are slip-ons. I own five pairs that are pictured above  (I even donated three pairs and threw one last week).
Why do I like them? The real question is what’s not to like.
They are super comfy.
They are easy to put on and take off.
They look good with shorts or pants.
They are usually decently priced.
They come in an assortment of styles and fun patterns!

I don’t see this fetish going away anytime soon so I’m just going to roll with the punches and hope that my employers (now and in the future) don’t mind my choice of foot wear.
Until next time, Jam on! Erin

Another addition to the the collection…

I went to a flea market last week and one of the vendors was selling vinyl LPs. This guy had boxes upon boxes of records that were crammed onto maybe a dozen or more tables. I spent a while looking through them and I know I didn’t come close to looking in all the boxes. I mostly hovered around the Ramones section. He had Road To Ruin, Subterranean Jungle, Ramones Mania, and Brain Drain. I ended up buying Road To Ruin (pictured) and my brother bought Brain Drain (along with “Rock the Casbah” single from The Clash). After researching, I discovered that the Road To Ruin album I purchased is not the original pressing, but a re-release printed under the same category number. Regardless,  I’m super stoked about being a vinyl owner and plan to return to the flea market on a regular basis.
Now all I need is a quality record player…Jamz. Erin

Things I’m Digging

+ Matty’s Downtown
If you’ve ever eaten here then you know why it’s on the list. Awesome burgers available with beef, turkey, or vegetarian patties.

+ Facedown Records
I’ve been listening to bands off this label a lot lately. Bands include: Call To Preserve, Onward To Olympus, War Of Ages, and Impending Doom.

+Scapbooking
I love scrapbooking! I’ve been adding to my scrapbook lately and I love choosing the best pictures and decorating each page. It combines my two favorite creative outlets: photography and design.

Top 5

I was reading a blog about blogging ideas and one of the ideas was describing the story of a serious injury. It’s odd that I happen to read that today because I’m accident prone and I just so happened to have an injury right now due to my clumsiness. This Top 5 is called “I Can’t Believe I Just Did That: Injury Edition.” It is my Top 5 worst accidents.

5. In middle school, I tripped over a book bag and scrapped my elbow on concrete. I still have a scar from that.

4. Recently, I was walking my dogs and I tripped and fell on asphalt. I scrapped my leg and it became bruised and swollen.

3. Last year, I fell and severely sprained my ankle. I was out of work for a few days because of it.

2. When I was 20, I slipped on frozen steps and and bruised my entire right side of my body.

1. I broke my arm from falling off my bed. Now before you say “aww,” I’ll admit that I was 16 years old and extremely tired.

Bring Your Own Bowl Cut

Earlier this week,  I went to two shows at The Channel (the first time I’ve attended a show at the new location). The first was part of the Who Pooted?Tour featuring Corpus Christi, Divide the Sea, Judges, and The Sons of God. Corpus Christi was unable to make the show for reasons unknown to me, but the rest of the bands were really good. My attention was particularly drawn to the band Judges which I intend on looking into a bit more.
The second show was Becoming the Archetype and Onward To Olympus on the Bring Your Own Bowl Cut Tour with the local band Your Chance To Die. Becoming The Archetype was completely insane and even encouraged the crowd to start up a circle pit around one of the support poles in the venue. I have never been able to get into BTA, but I am encouraged to listen to them now just because of their live performances. Below, are some pictures from the BYOBC, but you’ve been warned- they are not very good.
